COMMEMORATIVE STATUE OF LIBERTY PLANTING

This project involves the exchange of selected Parisian and New York City gardeners to execute the plantings in both cities.  Six gardeners from each city will travel overseas to share horticultural expertise and collaborate on their experience and knowledge. 

Battery Park, located at the foot of Manhattan, stages a strong visual axis to the Statue of Liberty.  All ferries to Liberty Island and New York Harbor depart here, therefore the space is heavily traveled on a daily basis.  The park is also home of Castle Clinton National Monument, which will serve as the main visitor center for Liberty Island. As the primary entrance to the park, the French-American Commemorative garden is located here.
